Arise, Shine: Restoring Your Light (digital Advent quiet day for clergy women)

Arise, Shine: Restoring Your Light (digital Advent quiet day for clergy women)

$95.00

Join the Revs. Heidi Carrington Heath and Callie Swanlund on Thursday, December 9, for a day to pause, connect, and restore your light as this year comes to a close. The prophet Isaiah calls us to “Arise, shine; for your light has come,” and yet many of us have struggled to shine brightly in this season. Gathering with one another, we’ll draw on the hope of Jesus, restore our light, pray and worship together, hear good news in community, and make space for wherever you find yourself.

WHAT YOU’LL COME AWAY WITH

Though we are gathering digitally, this day is quite different from online worship or a webinar. We will help you set your space so that you may enter into a retreat-like state and take a pause from “business as usual.” Many clergy are feeling burnt out or questioning their call to ministry in this season; this day will give you a chance to listen to God, rest and reset, and connect with others as a reminder that you’re not alone. Callie and Heidi will lead you in prayer, contemplation, connection, and soul-enriching conversation.

QUIET DAY SCHEDULE

The Advent Quiet Day will be hosted on Zoom from 11 am - 4 pm EASTERN on Thursday, December 9. We encourage you to set aside space and join us for the entire day.

11:00 am - 1:00 pm EST: Gathering #1, including opening meditation, reflection time, and interactive session with Heidi

1:00 - 2:00 pm EST: Open time for food, rest, and optional activities

2:00 - 4:00 pm EST: Gathering #2, including interactive session with Callie, reflection time, and closing meditation

LOGISTICS AND COST

To create a true quiet day, we invite you to find a space for the day where your mind can be focused, your body can be rested, and your soul can be stirred. All that’s required is a computer or tablet (phone is okay but not ideal) and a strong internet connection, but headphones may help you to better engage. Surrounding yourself with some favorite things—tea/coffee/snacks, a candle, blanket, journal, cozy slippers—and dressing comfortably is encouraged! As humans who oversee pets and children and ministries, we understand the demands on clergy women and will have great compassion for distractions that may arise.

In the space of this retreat, we commit to embracing antiracist practices, and strive to be inclusive of all ages, abilities, denominational backgrounds, social locations, and more.  We offer a special welcome to those who are LGBTQ+. This event is for all cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women. You can note on your registration form or reach out directly about any needs for accommodations related to dis/ability.

The cost for the Advent Quiet Day is $95. Please be in touch if you’d like to contribute toward another person’s registration fee or if you’d like financial assistance. Those individuals with continuing education or professional funds can use those to register; an email receipt will be sent.

Note: When completing registration, you’ll select “add to cart,” then you’ll need to select the cart/bag icon again to pay and check out.

We hope you’ll take a pause to shine your light with us.
